Personal Profiles
Marie-Helene Sakowski began her executive search career after
relocating to Vancouver, from British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast
in the mid 1996. She worked for a few local firms prior to
starting Effective Placement Incorporated in 2000.
Clients in the mining and mineral exploration area have utilized
Marie-Helene’s services in the area of Human Resource consulting.
Human Resource services currently include:
- Developing an employer/employee brand
- Developing policies and procedures
- Developing in-house hiring and recruiting strategies
- Implementing change leadership strategies.
Marie-Helene received a Masters degree from Queens University in
1990. Prior to that Marie-Helene worked overseas in Papua New
Guinea assisting with the placement of Canadian professionals in a
variety of development projects including those requiring specialized
community expertise within the mining sector.
Currently Marie-Helene teaches Human Resource Management at the
University of Phoenix, Vancouver Campus. Her guest columns on
recruiting and human resource issues have appeared in a variety of
publications the most recent being Mid Canada Forestry & Mining.
Jan Steele joined Effective Placement Incorporated in 2004. Jan completed a Bachelor of Science degree with the University of Calgary in 1975. Jan has worked as a recruiter and a Human Resource consultant within the mining and resource sector for clients in Western Canada. She has worked on projects involving people in Indonesia, Egypt, and Pakistan. Jan’s expertise includes engaging and bringing foreign workers into Canada for specialized roles.
