| Position Description: | Reporting to the Director of Mine Growth, the position of Mine Expansion Lead will be responsible for the leadership and coordination of all Mine related projects, changes and upgrades associated with an upcoming expansion of an operational facility. Specific functions will include:
- Coordinate and serve as the lead for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a new production hoist to meet final expansion capacity needs of the site.
- Coordinate the engineering and construction of all upgrades required to all core systems surrounding the shaft (storage bins, reclaim conveyors, surge bins, feeders, skips, etc) to hoist at rates associated with the hoist above.
- Explore various designs and constructability options in order to reduce expansion impact on regular production.
- Identify ways to improve the overall project schedule, including a reduction in downtime required to bring the Mine up to expansion operating levels.
- Serve as the primary VPO Mine liaison with Consulting Engineering firms and contractors performing the detailed work associated with all Mine Expansion activities.
- Work closely with Mine Engineering and Project Engineering personnel in leading the upgrades to the mainline and panel conveyor belts necessary to meet expansion tonnage requirements.
- Work closely with Mine Project Engineering Supervisor to coordinate the purchase of all equipment related to meeting expansion needs.
- Take part in quality control with the manufacturer, and expedition of all purchased / manufactured items discussed above to ensure top quality and timely deliveries that meet project deadlines.
- Work with the project team to maximize the expansion scope work that can be accomplished in the shutdowns prior to the major 2011 shutdown.
- Review Ore Continuity Study to ensure the design of belt capacities, feeders and ore storage expansions are accurate.
- In addition, provide support and input on other mining projects regarding hoist design and selection including layout and planning for shaft bottom conveyance, feeders, bin layouts, etc. |

| Requirements: | - Engineering degree with a minimum of 10 years experience and must be registered, or be eligible for registration, with APEGS.
- Engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating facility or a heavy industrial site, is considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with the technical and business management disciplines of engineering, as well as, procurement and construction activities.
- A proven appreciation for, and demonstrated capabilities in, the application of advanced methods of data collection, data analysis, and engineering/construction progress reporting.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills. |

- You have a university degree or diploma with a technical specialization (i.e. Mechanical Engineering Technologist).

- Your expertise includes sales analysis and forecasting.
